Job Description

We are looking for a talented Marketing Manager to help manage and grow subscriber engagement and retention for the Australian Financial Review, ultimately contributing towards business growth.

You will be responsible for driving marketing strategies to grow our predominantly digital subscription revenue.You will deliver subscriber engagement and retention campaigns including targeted and automated onboarding journeys to tactical engagement campaigns and more, managing the process from strategy, creative development and delivery, through to post-campaign reporting and optimisation.

You will work in close collaboration with stakeholders across the business including our product and editorial teams, as well as our CRM operations, digital performance and creative teams to execute strategic and tactical marketing plans to achieve our revenue and ROI goals.

This is an exciting full-time permanent opportunity for a talented and confident marketer to join our Sydney team and help engage and educate subscribers on the value of their subscription.

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns for the AFR to drive engagement objectives and achieve revenue goals.

  • Manage and optimise the subscriber customer journey from onboarding to product feature launches and more across channels including EDM, SMS, paid digital, print and owned channels

  • Collaborate with CRM specialist to ensure ongoing optimisation of campaigns, including audience strategy and driving performance objectives

  • Create robust campaign plans to ensure marketing strategies are effectively briefed to stakeholders and commercial objectives are met.

  • Own the creative development process for campaigns, working with in-house design and external creative teams (as required) to execute creative optimised for each channel in line with brand guidelines.

  • Engage in ongoing campaign tracking, testing, reporting and analysis to form and communicate insights and recommendations into campaign performance, customer behaviour, and subscription engagement metrics.

  • Build strong and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Editorial, Product and Tech.

  • Ensure effective campaign management processes, including creative approvals, budget reconciliation, campaign tracking and documentation

Qualifications

As our preferred candidate, you will have:

  • 5+ years direct experience in a marketing function with a digital focus, email marketing experience preferred.

  • Understanding of customer journeys, including digital performance metrics, channels, and best practice.

  • Experience in end-to-end marketing and campaign management, including developing strategy, briefing creative and media processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to build buy in and gain agreement for strategies and concepts with stakeholders

  • Experience in driving results through strategic and tactical marketing plans

  • Ability to present confidently to internal and external stakeholders

  • Meet deadlines, multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Highly organised with the ability to plan to prioritise workloads

  • Ability to collaborate efficiently and effectively with senior stakeholders.

  • Experience in a subscription business prefered but not essential
