Overview To assist in the supervision of the Electrical Services Section. To analyze, determine, and complete electrical job requirements pertaining to the operation, alteration, maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems. To serve as project manager for electrical projects.Responsibilities
Analyzes, determines, and completes electrical job requirements
Manages electrical work including installation, operation, upkeep, maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and including: interior and exterior 120-480 volt AC electrical systems, emergency generator and uninterrupted power systems, fire protection systems, public address system, electrical motors, motor control and lighting control circuits, electrical kitchen equipment, specialized fire suppression, and lighting systems
Manages electrical work for electrical systems including single and three phase with 120, 208, 277 and 480 volts, signal circuits, control circuits, and low voltage systems
Plans, organizes and directs the activities of the Electrician staff
Performs administrative duties including preparing and conducting performance appraisals, counselling employees and overseeing employee training and development
Determines workload priorities to ensure tasks are completed with minimal inconvenience and/or disruption to Navy Federal Credit Union operations
Delegates duties to staff based on level of experience
Researches, documents, communicates, and observes compliance with Navy Federal Credit Union, local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines pertaining to electrical systems
Diagnoses problems, malfunctions, or design alterations to emergency power systems, electrical systems or electrical equipment, fixtures, tools and appliances and makes corrections
Acts as the project manager for assigned in-house and contracted projects
Works with the Telecommunications Division and the Image and Workstation Branch to evaluate and meet their electrical requirements
Assists in the development of contract specifications and reviews documentation and blueprints developed by outside engineers and contractors to verify specifications, code, and quality requirements have been met
Identifies errors or problems and offers solutions and suggestions for correction
Works closely with the customer, contractor, and various levels of Navy Federal Credit Union to ensure scheduled completion of project, resolving problems as necessary
Provides technical assistance and guidance to staff in other building trades (Maintenance Services, Mechanical Services)
Observes and enforces safe working conditions through continual training of assigned journeymen and apprentices and by bringing unsafe situations to the attention of employees whenever encountered
Maintains knowledge of the National Electric Code, NFPA Standard 72 Fire Alarm Code, regulatory building codes, and EPA, ADA and OSHA laws and regulations and ensure that apprentices are trained on the above
Performs other duties as assigned or appropriate
Qualifications
Six years of experience in commercial electrical work, emergency power systems, and Uninterrupted Power Systems (UPS)
Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate subordinates; must be able to oversee work for compliance with OSHA requirements
Experience in operations and maintenance of large buildings; must be able to read electrical/fire protection blueprints and control drawings
Thorough knowledge of single and three phase electrical systems up to 480 volts AC, low voltage, AC and DC systems, and uninterrupted power systems
Thorough knowledge of state and local electrical codes
Must possess driver's license
Master Electrician License or ability to obtain Master's license within six months of hiring
Effective planning and organizational skill; must have ability to meet deadlines, exercise initiative, good judgement and make sound decisions
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
High school diploma or GED equivalent
