Join our team of industry leaders and make a difference on some of the most exciting and interesting projects in the field!Langan has an opportunity for a Survey Technician - Entry level to 4 Years Experience in our New Haven, CT office. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for assisting the Project Surveyor, Senior Project Surveyor or others with the reduction of field data and preparation of survey plans and CAD deliverables.Job Responsibilities:Reduce field data for preparation of surveys by importing raw field files and using calculated points for survey plan preparation in CAD/Carlson;

Provide research for survey projects, including deed, utility, roadway and subdivision map research;

Calculate stake out points for construction layout;

Draft surveys and other plans using CAD/Carlson;

Remain current with changes and upgrades in CAD systems used and continually work to improve efficiency;

Calculate inverts and plots subsurface utility information based on field measurements and record maps;

Plot deeds and assists Project Surveyor in boundary resolution;

Prepare written descriptions;

Assist with office filing, data download, and electronic file management;

Recommend new approaches and ideas that continuously improve efficiency and services performed;

Remain current on surveying practices, guidelines, and best management practices and attends internal training and external lectures to expand knowledge and skills;

Continuously improve communication skills, both written and verbal;

Actively participate in internal Health and Safety training and has strong commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace and field and;

Perform other duties as requested.

Job Requirements:Entry to 4 years of experience;

High School diploma or higher;

Experience in topographic, boundary, utility survey, construction layout, GPS;

Familiarity with current local, state, and surveying regulations;

Strong CAD and computer skills (AutoCAD, Carlson, Word, Excel, etc.);

Proficient mathematical ability;

Strong attention to detail;

Ability to multi-task effectively;

Excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;

Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Ability to work well individually and within groups;

Ability to occasionally participate in field work and work during evenings and/or weekends, when necessary;

Travel to project sites and/or client locations, as required and;

Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
