Assistant Cook (onboard fishing vessel)North Star Fishing Company is seeking an Assistant Cook to work onboard our 4 H&G at-sea processing vessels in the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. The crew convert raw fish into a frozen-at-sea finished product. 65 day contract 16 hour shift, 7 days a week Compensation is a percentage of the catch MUST PASS DRUG TEST AND CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECKAssistant Cooks prepare and cook family-style meals for crew on the fishing vessel. They work aboard at-sea processing vessels in the Bering Sea, Pacific Ocean, Gulf of Alaska and Aleutian Islands. They report to the Head Cook.Job Description: Prepares and cooks family-style meals for crew on the fishing vessel.Prepares meals as assigned for the crew and others on a daily basis using kitchen equipment,tools, and supplies stored in dry storage, refrigerators and frozen storage areas.Ensures all food preparation and storage is in compliance with health standardsUnderstands and complies with company and regulatory environmental policies regarding hotelwaste disposal.Cooks food in quantities according to menu and number of crew to be servedBakes bread and pastriesPlans menus with Head Cook to best utilize inventoryAssists with inventory and ordering as requested by Head CookAssists in the loading and unloading of food and other supplies into various storage areas located on various levels of the vessel.Prepares breakfast and midnight meals on a daily basis.Cleans kitchen area, equipment, and tools after each meal to meet sanitation standardsEncourages and fosters good relationship with crew to ensure mealtimes are enjoyable.Washes and dries crew laundry according to schedule, maintains laundry area in clean and serviceable condition.Cleans vessel house daily, including wheelhouse, upper deck, bathrooms and staircases.Operates all galley and laundry equipment according to manufacturer instructionsUtilizes cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer instructions and company policiesWorks in factory for 8 hours per shiftPhysical Ability and Skills:Work 16 hours per day, 7 days a week in all kinds of weather conditionsUnderstand instructions and safety rules in EnglishBoard and exit vessel without assistance by climbing up and down a gangway or Jacob's ladderCapable of climbing and descending steep stairs and vertical laddersBe away from medical attention for up to 3 monthsShare spaces with others including crew quarters, dining areas and bathroomsTraining and Other Requirements:AK Food handlers permitFirst Aid/CPRApply online at: https://northstarfishing.applicantpro.com/jobs/485655-136776.html
