Job Description

As a valued colleague on our team, you will provide expert advice on, and guide team in, assessing the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of controls over risk management and/or compliance processes. Your work will help strengthen and improve the governance, risk and control environment of the organization and provide assurance to the Audit Committee and regulators on the effectiveness of risk management and compliance programs. Specifically, this role will provide leadership over a portfolio of audits related to credit, market, liquidity, strategic, reputational, operational, and compliance risk management processes.THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

The Internal Audit - Lead Associate role will offer you the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:

  • Apply technical knowledge and expertise to lead internal audits and reviews focused on risk management and compliance processes. Use a risk-based approach to develop and adjust audit plans as appropriate and determine areas requiring additional analysis.
  • Provide day-to-day project leadership ensuring projects are completed on-time and within scope and budget. Monitor team progress, manage project budgets, and provide technical guidance and informal coaching to other Auditors.
  • Conduct first-level review of work and documentation; leverage Audit Manager/Director guidance as needed. Review and finalize staff work papers and deliverables with Audit Manager/Director. Develop audit reports with Audit Manager/Director.
  • Inspire and motivate team members to achieve results.
  • Engage in continuous risk assessments and monitoring of emerging and existing risks confronting Fannie Mae.
  • Track audit issue and regulatory issue remediation actions and assess the design adequacy and sustainability of remediation actions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with business partners. Provide advice and share Internal Audit knowledge with business partner managers and staff to strengthen governance, risk and control environments, as appropriate.

Qualifications

THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

Minimum Required Experience

  • 4 years of relevant experience
  • CPA, CIA or CISA required

Desired Experience

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent
  • 4-6 years of audit, risk management, or regulatory experience in a large and complex organization
  • Experience supervising and coordinating the work of others
  • Experience with process, risk and control assessments, including evaluating the design adequacy and operating effectiveness of controls and identifying and assessing the risk impact of control gaps
  • Experience communicating audit or risk assessment results, both written and verbal, to management andstakeholder/customers
  • Experience providing credible challenge, both written and verbal,to management andstakeholder/customers
  • Superior problem solving, critical thinking, and data analysis skills
  • Knowledge of risk management framework applicable to large, complex and highly regulated institutions, with exposure to various risk types such as credit and operational.
  • Relationship management skills including managing and engaging stakeholders, customers, and vendors, and building relationship networks
  • FRM/PRM or CRMA, plus but not required
