ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join our team to lead energy, sustainability, and infrastructure work with utility clients. This position requires someone with a blend of strong project management skills and the analytical, technical, and creative skills essential to help our clients forecast, design, plan, execute, and evaluate energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization projects. We are looking for someone to lead, manage, and contribute to business development opportunities, such as proposals, as well as program design and implementation, and Go-To market strategy. As a Managing Consulting – Utility Customer Programs, you will follow a clearly defined career path and continue to hone your professional expertise, leadership, business development skills, and ability to own multiple complex workstreams. As a Managing Consulting, you will contribute to building strong relationships with clients and manage and mentor program design and delivery staff. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate on business development and go-to-market initiatives related to program design and implementation

Participate in solution innovation and sales efforts with current and new clients

Develop and assess program concepts and designs, program launch, and implementation strategies

Lead program planning, including business case development, budgeting, and resource planning, go-to-market, ramp up to launch, and ongoing implementation strategy

Lead program delivery start-up phase to launch and transition strategy to local teams, as required, including management of budget, staff and sub-consultants, program measures and incentive levels, quality assurance/quality control, and customer and trade ally engagement strategies, monitoring, tracking and reporting on targets and other key performance indicators within a continuous improvement approach, to ensure program targets can be met with a high level of customer and client satisfaction

Collaborate and manage deliverables across matrixed business units including marketing, technology, customer care, and others as well as with external partners

Manage cross-functional project teams from cultivation to project completion, driving impactful and successful results for clients

Drawing on our team’s solutions and delivery expertise, develop strategies to meet specific client needs, manage work plans, staffing, deadlines and budgets for multiple projects simultaneously

Oversee the activities of project teams and support the day-to-day management of the client relationship

Oversee the development of high-quality and client-ready work products

Lead team meetings and guide, manage, and coach consultants

Serve as a performance manager for junior staff providing constructive feedback and overall career development guidance

Guide teams as they deal with uncertainty in evolving and cutting-edge topics

Collaborate with Associate Directors, Directors, and Partners keeping them abreast of project progress and important developments

Clearly communicate (written and verbal) to both internal and client stakeholders

QualificationsA degree in human-centric research and design, analysis, logical reasoning, and/or problem-solving (e.g., social science, economics, market research, etc.)

7+years professional work experience excluding internships, co-ops, fellowships and graduate research work. Experience should include the following:

Customer program design and delivery of successful customer programs

Developing business cases for customer programs as well as assisting program participants in developing business cases for projects

Customer and trade ally engagement

Energy efficiency and other distributed energy resource programs (e.g., EV, beneficial electrification, demand response, battery storage) in a range of sectors (e.g., residential, commercial, multi-residential, institutional, low-income)

Proposal writing experience including budget development and managing proposal timeline with a variety of subject matter experts providing input

MS Project, MS Power BI, and SPSS or other statistical software

Demonstrated experience with consulting-based project management approaches and techniques

Demonstrated energy program strategy, design, and/or evaluation, measurement, and verification experience

Knowledge of energy regulatory frameworks

Excellent project and program management and leadership skills

Superior verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

Positive, collaborative, team-oriented attitude

Proactive communication; doesn’t leave the team guessing about status or steps

Follow-through on commitments; little to no say-do gap

An inquisitive nature and desire for continuous improvement

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in the energy utility industry and in business development, including proposal development, customer program design and delivery of successful customer programs

5+ years of managing teams

Experience with multiple utility customer programs

Significant program management experience

Consulting experience

Understanding of utility stakeholder and regulatory environment

Experience with DER approvals within energy regulatory frameworks

Knowledge of utility rate-setting and cost of service

Recognized as an energy efficiency, demand-side management, and/or clean energy program leader in the electricity or natural gas utility industry

Project management training or certification (e.g., PMI/PMP curriculum)

Ability to “tell the story”, conveying key takeaways of technical work in a way that is actionable and relatable to clients as well as a general, less technical audience

Proficiency in MS Project, MS Power BI, and SPSS or other statistical software
