We are Invenergy.Job DescriptionPosition OverviewThe Mechanical Engineer (Wind Turbine Drivetrain) provides technical support to a large operating fleet of wind energy projects with emphasis on addressing the reliability and performance challenges associated with wind turbine drivetrains and developing subject matter expertise in the field. ResponsibilitiesAssist with the reliability management of bearings, gearboxes, generators, and motors within wind turbine drivetrain systems
Assess damage to drivetrain components, categorize severity, and provide repair dispositions
Develop in-house condition monitoring capabilities, including the monitoring of particle counters and vibration data
Track major component repairs, including the collection of repair reports and the updating of a failure log
Schedule End of Warranty inspections for major drivetrain components
File warranty claims with wind turbine OEMs
Help build and develop the capabilities of in-house repair teams
Lead pilot projects to evaluate new equipment, tools, or processes
Source hard-to-find parts for aging wind turbines
Perform parts usage analysis on high-volume or high-cost consumables
Visit sites to conduct special inspections, failure investigations, or provide training
Some travel (< 25%) and moderate field work may be required
Required SkillsBachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or relevant physical science
Zero to three years of work experience
Strong interest and understanding of mechanical systems
Ability to climb ladders and work at heights in wind turbine nacelles on occasion
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and able to quickly acclimate to new software
Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills
Strong time-management and/or project-management skills
Desire to work in a dynamic environment alongside people with multiple interests and backgrounds
Preferred SkillsMaster’s degree in a technical discipline is preferred
Experience with wind turbines, equipment reliability, bearings, condition-monitoring, or CMMS software is a plus
CAD experience is a plus, for occasional custom parts or tooling needs
Experience working with large data sets and performing statistical analysis is a plus
Demonstrated interest in renewable energy
