We are looking for an Appliance Mechanic to support our client in Fort Meade, MD.
Primary Working hours are 7am-4pm, Monday- Friday
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Appliance Mechanic installs, services and repairs stoves, refrigerators, dishwashing machines, and other electrical household or commercial appliances
Use hand tools, test equipment and following wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications
Connects appliance to power source and test meters, such as wattmeter, ammeter, or voltmeter, observes readings on meters and graphic recorders, examines appliance during operating cycle to detect excess vibration, overheating, fluid leaks and loose parts, and disassembles appliances and examines mechanical and electrical parts
Traces electrical circuits, following diagram and locates shorts and grounds, using ohmmeter, calibrates timers, thermostats and adjusts contact points, and cleans and washes parts, using wire brush, buffer, and solvent to remove carbon, grease and dust
Replaces worn or defective parts, such as switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers and defective wiring, repairs and adjusts appliance motors, reassembles appliance, adjusts pulleys and lubricates moving parts, using hand tools and lubricating equipment
Trouble-shoot, service and maintain kitchen commercial appliances, refrigeration systems, ice machines, steamers, cook tops, ovens and food processing appliances
Trouble shoot HVAC control components to determine design or operations deficiencies; research and order OEM/universal replacement parts; repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring; test electrical circuits and components for continuity, using electrical test equipment; reassemble and test equipment following repairs
Inspect and test system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications; discuss heating-cooling system malfunctions with users to isolate problems or to verify that malfunctions have been corrected; record and report all faults, deficiencies and other unusual occurrences; recommend, develop and perform preventive and general maintenance procedures
Lay out and connect electrical wiring between controls and equipment according to wiring diagram, using electrician's hand tools; install auxiliary components to heating-cooling equipment, such as expansion and discharge valves, air ducts, pipes, blowers, dampers, flues and stokers, following blueprints; study blueprints, design specifications, and manufacturer's recommendations to ascertain the configuration of heating or cooling equipment components and to ensure the proper installation of components.
Install, connect, and adjust thermostats, humidistat and timers
Generate work orders
Performs related duties as needed or assigned
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent must be able to stand/walk 50% of the work time; sit 50%. He/she must be able to lift/carry 100 pounds; must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All of these requirements are necessary for handling chemicals, supplies and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma and two (2) years’ experience trade-specific HVAC-R schooling experience required
Must have four years’ experience of HVAC-R and proficient in electrical schematic reading
Must be familiar with commercial cooking kitchen appliances and refrigeration freezers and refrigeration units
Must be able to understand written and verbal instructions in English
Considerable knowledge of practices, tools, equipment and techniques associated with the trade
Must be able to pass required government background check, criminal background checks and drug testing
