SummaryServes as a recognized technical authority and expert in the Office of Systems for an Associate Commissioner component. Performs a wide range of duties including technical support of SSA's programmatic applications software development in a multiple-platform environment. The incumbent serves as a technical advisor for systems planning and development projects which require the testing of new technologies and coordination of long-range systems requirements plans an assigned area of expertise.ResponsibilitiesAs an Agency expert in an assigned area, develops detailed systems analysis and design of new or existing major systems or subsystems and oversees software development, testing and implementation activities for SSA?s programmatic systems.Plans, sets priorities and develops systems analysis techniques and analytical approaches in accordance with Target Architectures.Provides authoritative advice to executive level managers within the Agency about the area of expertise. Conducts continuing review of computer technology developments applicable to system design.Prepares long range forecasts of developments relevant to SSA applications. Provides technical direction and guidance to other IT Specialists.Provides technical support to co-workers in analyzing systems external and internal specifications to determine whether requirements were correctly represented and to ensure conformance with performance specifications.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsApplicants must qualify for the series and grade of the posted position. In addition, to qualify for this GS-13 level position, applicants must possess and demonstrate 52 weeks of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level (or above) in the federal service that is in or related to the work of the position filled and has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. All of this specialized experience is REQUIRED and must be explicitly documented/described in your resume or you will be disqualified from further consideration.
