Over the course of this structured six-month program, you will hone your skills and develop strong professional networks in the national security sector and across our Innovation Centers, helping solve critical national challenges. Job Responsibilities:Working alongside MITRE mission specialists and engineers, you will be supporting national security sponsors while helping to design, develop, and implement solutions and technologies to address the data science and analytics challenges of our government sponsors. You will learn about MITRE sponsor missions and apply your technical knowledge and skills to problem-solving and innovation. At the culmination of the Accelerator Program, you will become part of MITRE’s National Security team focused on sponsor missions with a strong technical background enabling you to be a future leader in the company.From high performance computing to maximizing operational effectiveness and efficiency, you will learn to apply data science and analytics engineering expertise, innovative concepts, and technology solutions to address every facet of our sponsor’s data challenges to include:Biometrics

Data Analytics

Data Management

Data Science

Geospatial Information Sciences

What are some examples of projects I might work on?

Kill chain analysis, intelligence data fusion, and operations analysis

Visualizations and interpretation of large data sets using Tableau

Toolkit for neural topic modeling and variational autoencoders

Evaluation of modern deep reinforcement learning algorithms to develop scenarios that require multi-agent cooperation

Machine Learning techniques for radio frequency signals based on big data analytics of RF spectrum

What does an ideal MITRE Accelerator Data Scientist have?

Hands-on experience gained from previous work experience or relevant intern/co-op work

Applied knowledge of data science and analytics principles, tools, and devices

Proficiency in a range of techniques and languages for performing data analysis at scale

Interdisciplinary background with at least of one of those disciplines being data science, computer science, or a related field

Evidence of being a life-long learner, with a passion for the field

High-level desire to help our nation solve critical problems

Required QualificationsBachelor of Science and 2 years of related experience in data science, computer science, data analytics, statistics, math, or a related field of study and two years of relevant experience or an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) with relevant experience who can immediately contribute.

A bility to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance

Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python (scikit-learn, numpy, pandas, Jupyter), Scala/Java, C/C/C#, Objective C; Database design & development (SQL, Neo4J, MongoDB); AWS (Sagemaker, S3)

Preferred Qualifications:Active Top Secret/SCI with polygraph clearance

BS and 5 years of related experience; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step

Experience working projects related to national security for one or more government agencies

Interdisciplinary background, with evidence of continual learning

Understanding of or experience with statistical software and data visualization tools such as R, SPSS, SAS, and UNIX shell scripting

Hands on proficiency using data science techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, statistical modeling, and data visualization

Ability to find patterns in data and clearly articulate the entire analysis (i.e., methodology, results, assumptions, constraints) using various suites of tools

Experience applying various machine learning approaches (e.g., random forest, neural networks, support vector machines)

Experience developing interactive data visualizations using open-source web technologies (Angular, Vue, React, D3.js) or other frameworks (Shiny, Plotly, Dash)

Experience developing data-intensive full stack containerized web applications using Node.js, Flask, Django, or other technologies

Familiarity with working in cloud-based environments like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure

Experience working with big data analytic environments including Apache Spark, Presto, Impala, or other distributed SQL engines
