Scientist- Upstream Process Development Bedford, Ma About Company: An exciting new company looking to become the gene therapy leader for the global markets. Using their expertise and industry knowledge, they are developing an innovative platform to make these life changing treatments more affordable and accessible to patients. They are focusing on Opthalmology and are working on a dug that treats AMD (eye disease that impacts vision). About the Role: Seeking for a Scientist to join the Upstream Process Development Team. This scientist will help progress gene therapy portfolio programs into the clinical stage. This candidate will execute process development and characterization studies using shake flasks and bench-top bioreactors, participate in scale-up efforts, and transfer processes to Manufacturing. Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis on the performed and related activities and prepare technical reports, SOPs, and internal and external presentations
  • Lead a team
  • Help with development activities at MFG and support technology transfer efforts including knowledge transfer, scale up, facility gap analysis
  • Make sure effective, high-quality, timely and appropriate documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Maintain good communication and collaborate with cross-functional colleagues for successful execution/completion of project
Qualifications:
  • PHD with 2 a year or more experince, B.S, M.S in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent related fields with 4+ years relevant industrial experience required
  • Hands-on experience or knowledge on cell culture, aseptic technique, analytical instrumentation (such as cell counters and metabolite analyzer), and bioreactor operations
  • Experience with viral vector production, statistical software, technology transfer to CDMO/manufacturing facility, and process characterization experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, including writing and oral presentations
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
