Systems Administration - Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains servers, networks, operating systems and applications to ensure their security, functionality, reliability, and availability. - Maintains the security of all servers, networks, and peripheral devices including company issued computers, laptops, smart phones and tablets. - Manages network access including account creation and administration, passwords, user on-boarding and off-boarding, and configuration, administration and maintenance of Active Directory Services - Manage, deploy, monitor, maintain, develop, and support all information and operational technology systems, including servers, PC's, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals and application development, and telecommunication systems. - Maintains accurate and up-to-date inventory all utility information and operational technology assets, including servers, routers, switches, operating systems, applications, databases, and firmware. - Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs. - Recommends, develops, maintains and administers information and operating technology policies and procedures. - Monitors, evaluates and maintains the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures and recommends appropriate service and staffing levels. - Plan, coordinate, and review the work plan for information technology staff; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems. Senior Systems Administrator - Participate in the development and administration of the utility's annual information and operational technology plan and budget; participate in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments. - Coordinate utility technology capital improvement purchases for utility departments - Evaluate existing utility technology needs of all departments; propose recommendations to maintain and improve the quality of service; plan, coordinate, and implement improvements in service. - Prepare bid specifications and analyze bid proposals for computer and network equipment, software, and services, telecommunications equipment, software, and services, and operational technology equipment, software, and services. - Coordinate networking data transfers with other agencies - Manage and/or coordinate the high-quality implementation of all technology projects within the utility. Network Services - Installs, configures, tests, operates, maintains, and manages networks and their firewalls, including hardware (e.g., hubs, bridges, switches, multiplexers, routers, cables, proxy servers, and protective distributor systems) and software that permit the sharing and transmission of all spectrum transmissions of information to support the security of information and information systems. - Plans, implements, and operates network services/systems, to include hardware and virtual environments. Customer Service and Technical Support - Addresses problems; installs, configures, troubleshoots, and provides maintenance and training in response to customer requirements or inquiries (e.g., tiered-level customer support) - Provides technical support to customers who need assistance utilizing client-level hardware and software in accordance with established or approved organizational process components. - Respond to the needs and questions of computer users concerning their access to resources on the network, stand-alone computers, or attached devices; assist in problems relating to various software programs as necessary. - Oversee and facilitate repairs to personal computers and/or network systems. - Provides technical information and assistance to other RMLD divisions, town departments, agencies, and customers. Data Management - Supports the development and administration of databases and/or data management systems that allow for the storage, query, protection, and utilization of data. - Examines data from multiple disparate sources with the goal of providing security and privacy insight. - Designs and implements custom algorithms, workflow processes, and layouts for complex, enterprise-scale data sets used for modeling, data mining, and research purposes. Knowledge Management - Manages and administers processes and tools that enable the organization to identify, document, and access intellectual capital and information content. - Conducts a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies; recommend modifications to information technology and operational technology programs, policies, and procedures as appropriate. - Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintains awareness of new trends and developments in the field of information technology and utility operational technology; and incorporates new developments as appropriate. - Manages NERC, FERC, NPCC, and NEISO compliance standards and requirements for information and operational technology. - Supports the development and implementation of business processes for Information Technology organization - Responsible for presentations to internal and external boards as requested. - Responsible for providing input on utility technology organizational functions and related benefits/risks. - Serves as the liaison for the Information Technology organization with other utility organizations, departments, and outside agencies; negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues. location: Reading, Massachusettsjob type: Permanentsalary: $100,000 - 110,000 per yearwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelors responsibilities:Illustrative and Essential Work Activities: Essential work activities, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following.
