divGENERAL SUMMARY:To monitor noninvasive cardiac activity and other clinical parameters of patient populations ranging from adolescence to geriatric by continuous electrocardiographic display and pulse oximetry. The technician is able to interpret the rhythm and preforms critical alarm hand off with the nursing unit appropriately. The technician also maintains data related to the monitoring and provides daily reports for the patient's permanent medical record via electronic shift report directly into EMR.ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Telemetry Tech- Monitors cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry, reviews history alarms, scans 24-hour data, and performs arrhythmia analysis.Interpretation and documentation of cardiac rhythm strips, maintaining two-hour rate and rhythm documentation, providing 24-hour reports and discharge summaries via eDoc shift report.Communication with the nursing units regarding changes in the patient's rhythm status. Providing critical alarm hand off to appropriate nurse.Communication with unit to verify proper patient identification, correct telemetry box number, and correct unit location for patient safetyRecord box placement, maintain renewals, ASO and discharges in EMR. Providing Access Center with unit availability.Ensuring communication staff assignments are complete for all units at all sites. Providing real time feedback to units to complete assignments.Clerical activity including utilizing Box Status Report and scanning supplemental documentation in Epic.STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:Education / Training: Certified Cardiovascular Technician School or comparable certification preferred.Work Experience: Previous holter scanning, stress testing or telemetry experience would be preferred.Certification, Licensure, Registration:CRAT- Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician, preferable but not required.Other Qualifications:The technician must have excellent knowledge of ECG interpretation demonstrated by an advanced arrhythmia exam given by the department. Good written and verbal communication and report generating skill are necessary.
