S. McCrossan is currently seeking an underground crew to work on the Southwest Light Rail project. The nature of this type of work is physical, working within all weather elements and includes numerous labor intensive and/or operating intensive tasks. These are seasonal union positions, with one year of experience required.The positions we have available to make up this crew include: Excavator Operator Loader Operator Pipe Layer Bottom PersonQualifications High school diploma or GED One plus years’ labor/operator experience working within underground, sewer and water division Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions General knowledge of the heavy highway construction industry General knowledge of labor and/or heavy equipment operation Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to the industryPhysical Demands/Environmental Conditions (Laborer) Ability to lift 30 pounds up to 2/3 of work time Ability to lift 50 pounds up to 1/3 of work time Work on rough terrain Demonstrate or be corrected to 20/20 vision Perform job tasks requiring frequent shoveling, bending, twisting, lifting and carrying of materials Exposure to various weather conditions Exposure to noise, dust and other materials Exposure to heavy equipment, power tools and traffic Exposure to heights up to 50 feetPhysical Demands/Environmental Conditions (Operator) Ability to maneuver under and over equipment, as well as climb into/out of the cabs utilizing steps and ladders Constant sitting during machine operation Moving over uneven terrain Constant use of foot and hand controls Use of track spade/shovel to clear mud from the tracks and underbelly of machine as needed Move barricades/sand bags to clear area as needed Ability to stand and walk around machine when completing pre-trip inspection, clearing underbelly, and throughout the worksite on uneven terrain Demonstrate or be corrected to 20/20 vision Exposure to various weather conditions Exposure to noise, dust and other materials Exposure to heavy equipment, power tools and trafficSafety ResponsibilitiesKnowledge of and compliance with all Company safety requirements, policies and safety training.Other DutiesWillingness to carry out other related duties assigned or requested by the SupervisorBenefitsBenefits are provided through the unionThank you for your interest in this position with C.
