Assists the pharmacist in accurately profiling, filling, compounding, and dispensing medications
Responsible for delivering medications, replenishing floor-stock medications, and reordering stock at appropriate intervals
Preparing chemotherapy
Preparing IVs general
Packaging medications
Prioritizes work, emphasizing customer service
Suggests solutions to problems, follows through on problem resolution
Refers appropriate calls/questions to a pharmacist
Documents quality control activities
Follows designated procedures to receive products and ensures that barcode validates with medication list
Omnicell Console activities to include: selecting appropriate drugs to unload and quantities to load, pending loads correctly, monitoring and reacts to stock outs, processing of load in timely manner, etc.
Medication Pick/Check/Delivery (utilizing bar code readers: Epic Dispense Prep)

Education
High School diploma or equivalent required
Completion of Vocational Pharmacy Technician training program or enrolled in pharmacy school preferred
Qualification/SkillsExperience
High School diploma or equivalent required
One year of hospital pharmacy experience or 3 years retail pharmacy experience or enrolled in pharmacy school
Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good ability to perform routine mathematical and pharmaceutical calculations
Able to fluently read English and complicated medication names and the ability to handle pharmacy terminology
Ability to work cooperatively with others as a team
Self motivation and the ability to prioritize work to meet customer needs
Ability to differentiate work a technician is able to perform with that requiring a pharmacist
Computer experience preferred. Must be able to maintain competency for all tasks and duties of the pharmacy technician role
Licensure/Certification
Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
Minnesota Board of Pharmacy registration as a pharmacy technician
