Job Description

Essential maintenance worker needed that will help ensure that the entire facility, refrigeration and machinery is maintained in a productive, efficient and safe manner.

This general mechanic position will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance on pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment. Maintenance on forklifts and other material handling equipment, both propane and electrically powered. Some welding and metal work, as well as building maintenance. Others tasks as assigned.

Accepts requirements and responsibility of being considered 'essential personnel' which may require him/her to report to their job site in case of an emergency and work mandatory overtime if necessary to ensure production machinery down-time is kept to a minimum and/or installation of new equipment is completed per schedule.

Required Qualifications of the Maintenance Technician:

Mechanically Inclined

Completed High School diploma or GED

Ability to do precise and detailed work.

Ability to work in a subzero environment

Preferred Qualifications of the Maintenance Technician:

Associates of Science Degree in a technical field

Welding and/or electrical certifications

HVAC/R certifications and/or experience

Ammonia refrigeration experience

Electrical experience

Ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagram drawings (P&ID)

Work Environment

Fast paced industry in a cold storage work environment

Ability to withstand cold storage temperatures for extended periods of time

Noise levels that vary

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to perform what can be strenuous physical tasks including prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending and stooping, working in confined spaces, lifting or carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to grasp, manipulate, or assemble large or very small objects, work in awkward positions and on ladders. Good eye sight and normal color vision, good hand-eye coordination.
