You'll get to:

  • Design subassemblies & complex parts using CATIA V5.
  • Design parts according to various component manufacturing processes including injection molding, die casting, stamping, and machining.
  • Set up BOM structure and maintain documentation in PLM system throughout the entire product life cycle.
  • Create 2Dtechnical drawings, applying GD&T when necessary, and performing dimensional tolerance stack-ups to guide the design and specifications.
  • Build prototypes (hands-on) in a lab, and you'll coordinate fabrication of prototype parts and assembly fixtures or gauges as needed.
  • Review measurements of components received from suppliers, and disposition whether parts are acceptable to use at various levels of builds.
  • Perform teardowns of competitive designs and test failures, and perform basic experiments to improve design output.
  • Investigate design issues & test failures, and effectively identify, recommend, and implement corrective actions to components and/or mfg. process.

  • 2 year vocational-technical training degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3years of experience in design position.
  • Experience using product lifecycle management software.
  • Demonstrated experience designing parts, assemblies and drawings utilizing CAD (CATIA V5 preferred). In-house training available to specifically learn CATIA.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in team environment and able to self-delegate tasks from several engineers.
  • Demonstrated hands-on problem-solving skills and can-do attitude.
  • Able to independently build and modify product assemblies and prototypes.
  • Self-motivated, results and goals oriented.
  • Proficient with MS Office, especiallyExceland PowerPoint
  • Basic understanding of power tools, motors, mechanical principals, battery design and electronics technology is a plus.
