High Desert Law seeks an experienced paralegal or legal assistant with a background in personal injury to join our hard-working team. We are a boutique law firm with a dedicated mission of getting our clients back on their path. We are looking for someone with seasoned experience in handling medical records (a must) as well as traditional paralegal and legal assistant work in personal injury.

Your attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to multitask, and understanding of PI case management will be crucial to client success and create value to your fit within our team. You are able to handle conflicting time demands and focus on task completion with little direction or need for supervisory follow-up, while displaying patience, compassion, and enthusiasm toward our clients and prospective clients. We are seeking a team player who can seamlessly prioritize, multitask, and maintain exceptional confidentiality standards.

This position will require you to work closely with attorneys and two other staff, being able to address all aspects of case management from intake to disbursement. Excellent legal drafting, writing, and verbal communication skills as well as analytical and critical thinking skills are essential. You must have expertise in Microsoft office suite including Excel, as well as Dropbox, Adobe Pro, and online systems including CMS/MSPRP, OR DMV, and OECI (OJIN).

The essential functions of this job include, but are not limited to, the following:

Handling all aspects of client case management from intake to disbursement;

Organizing chart notes and billing records for client treatment as it relates to their claim, including: ordering medical records and bills; receiving and organizing records and bills; reviewing records and bills and analyzing related charges; preparing accurate overview of bills for all related treatment by provider; and addressing applicable liens, including Medicare;

Drafting letters, memoranda, and pleadings;

Managing deadlines and e-filing with the court system;

Checking legal forms and documents for accuracy;

Performing proactive updates to client files with ordering of additional or prior records throughout the course of a case;

Handling new client intakes and gathering new client information;

Maintaining reference/template files;

Coordinating law office activities such as subpoena deliveries; and

Locating and communicating with witnesses and interacting with clients.

Additional experience in the following is preferred:

Preparing written reports and drafting legal documents including briefs, appeals, and legal agreements and correspondence;

Performing legal and factual research, performing records research;

Identifying relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes, and other pertinent material;

Reviewing and monitoring new and updated regulations; and

Helping prepare legal arguments, applications, declarations, and motions.

Pay: This position is Full-Time (40 hrs/week). Pay is commensurate with experience.
