Job Summary:

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Portland is seeking a full-time Pediatric RN to join our Surgical Services team! The RN is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education and transitions of care.

Shriners Hospitals for Children – Portland primarily treats patients undergoing procedures: acetabuloplasty, arthroscopy of the knee, wrist and shoulder, closed reduction and percutaneous pinning, tibial lengthening, application of external fixators, ORIF of bone fractures, osteotomy of femur, tibia and foot, epiphysiodesis, club foot correction, tendon lengthening and transfer, cast application, halo traction, spinal fusion, VEPTR insertion and lengthening, tendoachilles lengthening, Leforte maxillary/sagittal osteotomy, otoplasty, repair of cleft lip, nose and palate, rhinoplasty, pharyngoplasty, skin graft, etc.

Qualifications

Job Requirements and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

  • Current Oregon RN licensure

  • BLS CPR certification

  • Must have PALS certification or obtain within six months of hire

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing is required

  • Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

  • Excellent communication and listening skills, the ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • Flexibility to delegate, prioritize, and adapt in stressful situations

  • Must have the flexibility to alter assignments on short notice and work with diverse personalities and changing situations

  • Ability to work as a role model for staff, demonstrating problem solving skills and nursing best practices

  • Two years’ experience working in a pediatric ambulatory surgery unit is preferred

  • Experience working with pediatric orthopedic patients is preferred
