The Outreach Team is a field firm specializing in face-to-face canvassing operations. We fuel the nation's leading groups to raise money, collect key information from supporters, register voters, and win on important elections.

We are excited to be working with Everytown for Gun Safety on a program to register 50,000 students to vote and help elect leaders that will end gun violence in America.

General Overview:

We are currently seeking Voter Registration Canvassers and Team Leaders to join us on an important and exciting non-partisan campaign to help tens of thousands of people register to vote at college campuses across the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic has upended our everyday lives, but voting is a fundamental right, and our pursuit of a truly representative democracy demands that we engage every eligible voter to register and vote in November. In order to do that, we can not skip having in-person conversations with people to register a lot of them to vote.

Thankfully, we have developed health and safety protocols to do this work safely. We will employ contactless voter registration through cell phones. In addition we will provide PPE as well as health and safety training to make sure we can do this critical work while keeping our staff and the people in our communities safe.

Voter Registration Canvassers and Team Leaders will assist citizens in successfully and safely completing their voter registration applications. Canvassers will engage with the public in a friendly, professional, and most importantly safe manner and answer any questions they may have.

Team Leaders will be responsible for managing a small group of canvassers out in the field. Team Leaders serve as the eyes and ears of the campaign, training canvassers and reporting to directors. They will ensure everyone in their group is set up in the correct place with all of the necessary materials, they will check in with their team throughout the day to evaluate skills and confirm proper health and safety measures are being followed. Team Leaders are responsible for debriefing with their team at the end of the day and ensuring proper data reporting.

We are hiring immediately. This position can run through the mid-October registration deadline.

Locations: We are hiring immediately in Ann Arbor and East Lansing, MI, State College and Pittsburgh, PA, and Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC.

Canvasser Responsibilities:

-Assist people in carefully and correctly filling out voter registration forms using online registration tools

-Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner

-Follow the safety protocol, including the use of PPE and compliance with daily health and safety guidelines

-Familiarize yourself with state registration laws and statutes, and comply with all applicable legal requirements and processes for registering voters

Team Leader Responsibilities:

-Assist people in carefully and correctly filling out voter registration forms using online registration tools

-Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner

-Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day

-Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful

-Assist directors with canvasser training

-Follow the safety protocol, including the use of PPE and compliance with daily health and safety guidelines

-Familiarize yourself with state registration laws and statutes, and comply with all applicable legal requirements and processes for registering voters

Skills:

-Charismatic, energetic, and passionate about voting rights and the importance of voter registration

-Customer service skills; you should enjoy working with other people

-Goal-oriented and able to see the bigger picture

-Determined, motivated, and not easily discouraged

Qualifications:

-Prior experience with voter registration or other canvassing operations is preferred but not required. We will -consider candidates with comparable experience.

-Energetic, outgoing and willing to talk to the public

-Leadership experience, ability to motivate, grow, and meet goals

-Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

-Strong passion for community organizing and fostering civic engagement

Wages: The wage range for this position is $14 per hour for canvassers and $17 per hour for team leads. We offer access to our company’s health insurance plan to all staff who work at least 30 hours/week.
