job summary:Summary:

  • 5+ years with SQL Server Administration. Participates in design, development and implementation of complex databases, often using new technologies. Viewed as the subject matter expert for the team. Manages multiple, moderately complex projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member or as an individual contributor. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants or managers. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership may be provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Computer Science degree preferred or substantially equivalent experience
  • Perform administration of Always-On, High availability clusters and Standalone Microsoft SQL Server 2008/2012/2014/2016.
  • Configure and maintain SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS instances.
  • Perform database administration tasks such as backup/recovery management (including LLE refreshes) and capacity planning.
  • Creating users and assigning permissions based on minimum access required for the user to perform the job.
  • Manage monitoring to maximize availability and performance of the database/instances
  • Configure database mirroring, log shipping, always on and SQL replication.
  • Setting up high-availability as part of Disaster Recovery Strategy for the databases
  • Troubleshooting and performing root cause analysis of problems and provide solutions to problem.
  • Performance tuning of SQL Servers/databases and Transact-SQL queries
  • Promote system reliability and efficiency by implementing company standards, policies, procedures and best-practices.
  • Perform SQL database administration including software installations/configurations for SQL Server 2008 to 2016 including SSDS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS and peripheral features/products such as log shipping, mirroring, and maintenance packs (dbcc, backups, re-indexing).
  • experience in installation, Backup/Recovery and administration of SQL 2008/2012/2014/2016 stand alone and clusters
  • Perform database upgrades/migrations (SQL 2008 through 2016)
  • Troubleshoot complex systems to identify bottlenecks (SQL, IO, hardware, query related, etc); Resolve database related issues.
  • Provide production support in time sensitive situations in addition to providing support for multiple high profile applications/projects.
  • Support release rollouts/builds for application teams. This requires client management skills and a comfort with change management concepts.
  • Proficient in system troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Support project teams. This requires time management skills, comfort with processes, judgment regarding when to escalate issues to leads and management, and the ability to work as the SQL expert in part of a team. Decisions/Actions must be in compliance to our internal standards and policies.
  • Manage connectivity to other RDBMS, SSIS packages, TSQL, PerfMon and Activity monitor.
  • Proficient in system troubleshooting and performance tuning
  • Assist clients with fine tuning indexing and tune queries.
  • Generate performance and efficiency metrics and offer expert advice to clients.
  • Perform regular security and access reviews; Remediate as needed.
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills
  • On-Call Rotation
  • Should be available for covering releases or DB maintenances that might happen during off hours or weekends.
