Job Description

In this highly visible position, you will be responsible for providing strategic and leadership direction for the Great PlainsRegion of account executives in support of the continued promotion for a first of its kind therapy for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy. The person in this role will be responsible for developing regional business plans. They will recruit, train, develop, and mentor account executives to drive performance and foster a culture of empowerment and compliance to assure appropriate use of marketing and sales resources/materials in support of the therapy’s commercialization.

Responsibilities:

Understands market drivers, Biogen, clients, and is able to evaluate growth opportunities and develop a strategy that aligns with organizational priorities and available resources.

Effectively delegates and manages all resources and budgets for their region.

Attracts, develops, and retains high performing internal/external talent to effectively meet business expectations.

Drives a culture of collaboration, shared accountability, innovation, creativity, and crisp, high-quality decision-making.

Provides personalized coaching and situational leadership practices to develop individual/team skills and abilities to meet performance expectations.

Builds effective relationships with marketing to execute marketing programs that drive growth and brand development (e.g. building an integrated marketing/sales strategy grounded in competitor information and consumer insights).

Effectively communicates to marketing regional goals so that they can develop tools/programs that enable them to deliver performance expectations. Ensures their account executives are using marketing tools appropriately.

Identifies patients through market development and physician education.

Builds and effectively executes on a strategic regional plan on how to approach key accounts and institutes.

Can identify/build/maintain relationships to grow their region and to maximize sales.

Qualifications

7+ years of sales experience in the hospital/academic medical center (biotech/rare disease experience is an advantage)

3+ years of managing, motivating and inspiring field-based teams.

Must be familiar with relevant legal and regulatory environment and capable of managing others to operate compliantly.

Can identify issues quickly and can develop recommendations to resolve.

Establishes effective relationships through mutual respect and trust in dealing with others.

Ability to work in close collaboration with multiple functions including sales, marketing, advocacy, and HR.

Must be comfortable spending 60% of time traveling; overnight travel required.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced or graduate degree is preferred.
