DescriptionSAIC is looking for a Space Systems Engineer to support a dynamic program located in Chantilly, Virginia. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Poly .A Systems Integration requires an experienced engineer familiar with space systems acquisitions to assist in developing and maintaining segment requirements for the Collection Segment. The experienced engineer will assist with test planning for verification and validation. The following tasks are representative of those that will be accomplished at the request of the customer:Support maintenance of the Collection Segment Specification in DOORs
Assist in flow-down of requirements from higher level documents
Coordinate across the SPO for any proposed requirement changes
Support requirements and test activities across the enterprise and with the development contractors
Identify areas of risk to mission closure across collection, mission management, and mission processing
Lead segment verification and validation activities
Utilize software tools, to include developing scripts, in performing analyses and automating systems engineering tasks
Attend Segment-level design reviews and program management reviews to assess design maturity, requirements compliance, and to provide informed technical recommendations to the customer
Identify and assess emerging risks; develop and evaluate proposed burn-down plans
Plan and execute system-level testing including Multi-Segment testing
Support technical evaluations of contractor proposals
Review complex technical design documentation and provide formal and informal feedback to the COTR, subject matter experts, and other customer personnel
Participate in requirement sell-off events to ensure program success
Plan and execute internal and external interface testing to support final system verification, validation, and delivery
Liaise with mission analysis and acquisition teams to ensure completeness across the acquisition
Develop productive relationships with prime contractor counterparts, functional counterparts, and other spacecraft, payload, and ground subject matter experts
Advise and mentor customer Systems Integration Branch personnel regarding Segment requirements and verification and validation
Other duties as specified by the customer
QualificationsTYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experienceRequired Attributes:Bachelor’s degree in an engineering disciplineor significant mission experience
Basic understanding of DOD/IC satellite systemsand architectures
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, teambuilding, and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effectivein a government/contractor team environment
Experience in DOD/IC acquisition and programmanagement processes
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated sustained superior performance
Available to travel domestically
Desired Attributes:Systems testing with experience in end-to-endfunctional testing across multiple interfaces
Masters in an engineering discipline
Experience in DOORs and other requirements andmodel-based systems engineering tools
Prior mission operations experience with DOD/ICsatellite systems
Previous experience developing technicalspecifications for space systems
