Chesterfield, Va., Home is Where the Heart Is’ mission is to provide high quality person-centered compassionate and comprehensive services to individuals who have a primary diagnosis of intellectual disability and/or other diagnosis of mental or physical disabilities or limitations. Our programs encourage individual choice, community relationships, the development of unique abilities; and the enhancement of individuals' adaptive, cognitive, emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual lives.

Qualifications:

Our group home currently supports all male residents. Thereby, for the preservation of decency and privacy, we will give preference to qualified male candidates to suit the special needs and care of each resident. However, qualified female candidates may also apply.

Also, the qualified candidate must:

have a minimum of one year of successful direct care experience with adults with IDD/DD in a residential and/or day support setting;

have a high school diploma/GED and/or Associates Degree in Human Services;

pass a background check;

possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record with no DUI's; and

have reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:

Provide basic nursing care, personal care, and hygiene.

Knowledge of simple nursing care, first-aid, behavior management, personal and environmental hygiene.

Implement and follow the policies and procedures of the department, facility, or service entity.

Engage in the care, training, and rehabilitation of residents with physical, intellectual, and mental disability.

Perform established training, care, and programmatic activities.

Teach and assist residents in activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, dressing, grooming and other self-care skills.

Participate with professional staff in the design and implementation of training and programmatic activities.

Respect the rights and personal dignity of others.

Observe, record and report residents’ behavior, attitude, and physical condition.

Perform simple math and communicate effectively, both orally and written.

Maintain effective working relationships with residents and other employees.

Available Shifts:

1. Day shift 10am-2pm, Mon-Fri (1-on-1 activities)

2. Day/Evening weekend shift 7am-7pm, Sat-Sun

3. Day/Evening weekend shift 12pm-8pm, Sat-Sun

4. Overnight shift weekend 7pm-7am, Sat-Sun

5. Overnight shift 11pm-8am Mon-Fri
