THE POSITION: Provides non-lethal security services for the 1st District Court Kootenai County and general security services on County grounds. Provides protection of citizens, jurors, judges and state employees utilizing county buildings. Provides deterrents against disruptive and potentially life-threatening activities directed toward judges, court personnel, jurors, witnesses, defendants, prisoners, and the general public; maintains order in the court buildings, Administration Building and common public areas. First line of defense against domestic terrorism, violent acts and/or entry of contraband including drugs and dangerous weapons into courthouse facilities.

$12.96 TO $14.94 per hour depending on experience

Must be able to certify with Taser, CPR and remain certified

React quickly, calmly and professionally in all emergency situations

Provides armed escort of in-custody defendants, and safety escorts in high risk situations

Operates motor vehicles in a safe manner during all weather conditions and in accordance with Idaho motor vehicle rules, regulations and laws

Acts as first responder for any and all emergencies on county grounds

Control entry and exit points to the County Judicial Buildings

Functions as a public information source for persons using county facilities

DO YOU QUALIFY?

Do you have at least a High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 1 year related experience? No college degree required

Are you willing and physically/verbally able to restrain and/or control any individual that attempts to bypass the screening station without proper authorization?

Do you possess or have the ability to possess a driver’s license and be insurable?

Do you possess or have the ability to possess a First Aid card and CPR certification?

Do you possess or have the ability to pass department standards for Taser device weapons (certification annually) as well as the ability to operate job specific tools such as hand cuffs, pepper spray, x-ray machines etc? See job description for complete details.
