Event Server (Part-Time)

Tall Guy and a Grill Catering, an award-winning Milwaukee area caterer, is seeking passionate, energetic, and service oriented Event Servers to provide service at weddings, corporate and private events. This position is responsible for more than serving food. Event Servers play a critical role in the success and client satisfaction of every event through the way they interact and engage with guests, their exceptional attention to detail, ability to anticipate needs and their knowledge of the food they are serving. Event Servers must work collaboratively as part of the event team, focused on one goal providing an extraordinary experience. All Event Servers reports directly to the Catering Manager on site at each event.

Position Details

Start Date: IMMEDIATE OPENINGS!

Hours: 10-20 hours per week, primarily nights and weekends, working off site catering events.

Starting Pay: $14-$15/hr plus tips and 1 meal per shift. Pay commensurate upon experience.

What You Will Do

Provide exceptional service to guests, in alignment with our service standards.

Serve plated dinners and/or passed appetizers to guests, anticipating needs and responding to requests for beverages, appetizers and other needs in a timely manner.

Run food from the kitchen to the dining room, as needed.

Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages if needed

Assist with room prep before the event begins. This includes anything from moving tables and chairs in place, to table settings, and settings salads or center pieces.

Prior to the event, seek out and understand event details such as the event schedule, venue logistics (i.e. location of restrooms and coat rooms) and any special need the client or guests may have.

Clean up venue after event ends and assist with inventory, food storage and other closeout tasks

Operate as an exceptional event team member; communicate with the manager on site as well as other servers and event organizers, proactively helping others out and jumping in as necessary to ensure a successful event.

Ability to maintain high quality control standards as it pertains to customer service food presentation, safety, and health standards

Other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Willing and able to work nights and weekends, as that is when most fully staffed events occur.

Reliable Transportation to and from work.

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Education, degree and/or certificate in food service or related field is a plus, but not required.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in the food industry.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication, listening and problem-solving skills.

Self-driven and motivated to do a great job.

Passionate about serving others and delivering an exceptional experience.
