E&I Journeyman

Job Description

  • Performs work consistent with the Manufacturing Work System and maintenance best practices.
  • Repairs, maintains and installs electrical/instrumentation systems and equipment.
  • Locates, diagnoses and repairs electrical/instrumentation malfunctions.
  • Inspects and tests electrical/instrumentation equipment as required.
  • Disassembles malfunctioning electrical/instrumentation equipment, troubleshoots and tests mechanisms and circuitry for defects.
  • Operates programmable controllers, distributive controls and configures controllers for required troubleshooting.
  • Assists with plan layouts, running conduit, wiring and tubing new installations.
  • Assists with developing and carrying out preventative maintenance programs.
  • Fully utilize all skills and abilities to work in a flexible environment.
  • Trains apprentices as required.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
  • Complies with all electrical/NFPA70e safe work practices.

On‑The‑Job Requirements:

  • Must participate in specialized instruction/training by vendors as required, e.g., Bailey, General Electric schools, etc.
  • Must complete required instrumentation related instruction.
  • Must comply with company respirator policy.
  • Must lift 50-70 lbs. regularly, e.g., conduit, starters, controllers, transmitters, circuit breakers, etc.
  • Must do considerable amount of bending, stooping, reaching, turning, and twisting.
  • Must climb and work in high places, e.g., 70’ or up to 100’ elevated bridge cranes, overhead lighting, reflectors, etc.
  • Must work with radiation-type measurement devices.
  • Must operate and use conduit, tubing benders, threader, hand tools, etc.
  • Must work with voltages up to and including 13,800 volts, e.g., high voltage switch gear, etc.
  • Must read blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must be able to use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order tracking, time entry, parts procurement, etc.
  • Must configure and service process controls.
  • Must be able to work independently, be able to prioritize work, and be a self-starter.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and work in a team environment.
  • Must have a telephone and live within a reasonable commuting distance of the mill.
  • Must respond to call-ins, work shift work, overtime, Sundays and holidays as required.
  • Must be willing to keep current with industry advancements by continuing education and further developing skills.
  • Must perform in a manner that supports our team member expectations.

Qualifications

  • Must have completed a State Indentured E/I Apprenticeship Program, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Must have flexibility, reach and body height consistent with job responsibilities.
  • Must have a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
  • Must not be allergic to chemicals or materials used in a mill environment.
