We are seeking an innovative and creative engineer for a Hardware Test Engineer position. The candidate will work in an R&D environment developing test plans, setting up tests and execute hardware testing on prototype radio hardware.The candidate will be testing a large variety of hardware, firmware and software features using state-of-the-art instrumentation.KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with digital hardware engineers to develop test plans for iDirect/iDG equipment.
- Testing will be performed on power and digital circuits with a focus on power converter, high speed interfaces, FPGA, Ethernet, clocking and memory circuits.
- RF circuits may also be tested in accordance with skill level and desire
- Modify and execute test software using Python and bash shell scripts used to run instruments and radio hardware
- Work as a member of the iDG hardware design/test team. Execute tests, record and present data.
- Attend and participate in design meetings in order to address test issues early in the product development process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Perform design verification tests (DVT) on digital and RF prototype and production hardware.
- Experience with hardware test and/or design. Hardware should include digital and power electronics. RF test experience is a plus.
- Experience repairing and troubleshooting failed hardware
- Experience soldering relatively fine pitch devices on circuit boards
- Experience with design tasks like schematic capture and board design a plus
- Experience with GNU/Linux development and basic administration is a plus

Experience with a broad mix of hardware test equipment include multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supply testers, temperature chambers. Experience with spectrum and network analyzers a plus.
Experience defining, documenting, and executing hardware test cases is required
Ability to program in Python and familiarity with bash shell scripting is a plus
Knowledge of network protocols and standards (e.g. DNS, TCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH) is desired
Must be able to communicate effectively on a technical level.
