Preferred: A minimum of 5 years of Paralegal trust and estates experience; including, Administer estates and trusts; Prepare federal and state estate tax returns; Prepare fiduciary accountings and income tax returns; Generally assist lawyers in estate planning and administration; Management of all aspects of trust accounts;

Position Summary/Overview:

This role assists attorneys with assignments involving complex paralegal duties requiring initiative, skill and specialized legal knowledge. Such complex work requires the exercise of independent judgment and discretion.

Essential Job Requirements

Administer estates and trusts;

Prepare federal and state estate tax returns;

Prepare fiduciary accountings and income tax returns;

Generally assist lawyers in estate planning and administration;

Management of all aspects of trust accounts;

Preparation of:

-Probate papers;

-Federal and state estate and inheritance tax returns;

-Federal gift tax returns;

-Fiduciary accountings;

-Federal and state fiduciary income tax returns.

Extensive client contact;

Calendar and monitor key dates and deadlines.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (including physical abilities):

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required;

Paralegal certification from an ABA program is optimal;

A minimum of 5 years' experience with estate administration and trust administration matters;

Proficient with fiduciary accounting, including expertise with estate and gift tax returns;

Currently is a Legal Assistant/Paralegal in a law firm or financial institution such as a trust company or bank trust department;

A self-starter who can work independently;

Excellent communication skills are a must since extensive client interaction is an integral part of this job;

Careful attention to detail and superior interpersonal skills.

NJ: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

NY: 9:30 am – 5:30 pm

DC: 9:00 am – 5:30 pm
