Coach Glass is looking for a Supply Chain Planner who can work with our inventory team, while leveraging knowledge of the market to drive supplier performance. The right candidate will have some financial skill allowing them to cost model and perform make vs. buy analysis. As the Supply Chain Planner, you will employ your knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, shipping costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. Overview:
The Supply Chain Planner ensures all materials are planned to meet the needs of our customers in our four distribution centers according to stocking levels for OE and Aftermarket business. Duties include but are not limited to: involvement in all aspects of materials flow, material planning, procurement, forecasting, and reporting for production, logistics and delivery to customers. This position requires collaboration between Purchasing, Sales, Logistics and Warehousing teams to meet our planning needs.
Responsibilities:
Perform Planning Functions
Participate in the planning of all materials and coordinate with Purchasing team for ordering to maintain adequate levels of inventory
Adhere to established policies and good ethical standards
Establish the proper tools and reports to manage production planning, scheduling, and procurement activities by monitoring inventories, tracking production and reviewing factors that affect schedules
Full understanding of all the components in inventory planning using multiple overseas suppliers to meet our needs
Plan Logistics and Forecast
Analyze customer demand, sales forecasts, and historical usage to develop order and inventory plans
Develop and maintain strong relationship with Sales Team and Purchasing departments to improve understanding of customer forecasts and production including raw materials
Collaborate and understand expectations of the Logistics and Warehousing Director and Manager to build planning tools
Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities
Plan interplant transfers. Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
Work with the logistics team to build the import/export and U.S. product movement schedules and timing for planning
Understand Sourcing and Suppliers timeframes for material planning
Aid in the development and execution of the sourcing strategy
Meet with Purchasing and Logistics teams to stay up to date on our sourcing timeframes
Utilize Measurement and Analysis
Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service
Establish, implement, and manage system to evaluate, monitor and report supplier scorecard performance
Create tools and reports to improve planning, tracking and reporting of materials or products distribution, storage, or inventory
Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material planning
Drive Improvement
Lead improvement projects
Establish and implement methods and best practices for inventory, forecasting, planning, purchasing, and material control.
Create method, systems, and tools that can be utilized by Buyers when making buying decisions
Standardize, improve, and document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows
Eliminate waste and streamline processes
Remain current with new material management tools and technology
Use metrics to identify and implement improvements our planning and purchasing of materials
Requirements:
BS degree in business, management, engineering or related discipline.
3 -5 years progressive experience in management of materials, sourcing and import/export rules and regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience in lean or six sigma preferred
APICS certification preferred
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
Require pre-employment drug test and background check.
Must be able to occasionally work long hours during weekdays and weekends.
Ability to travel, when needed, both domestically and internationally.
