Job Summary:

The Equipment Maintenance Technician at Northwest Die Casting is responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical/electrical equipment such as furnaces, die cast machines, trim presses, pumps, and motors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform hydraulic, pneumatic and troubleshooting as required to diagnose problems.

Perform required preventative maintenance duties according to prepared procedures, and maintain log.

Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, welder, and other tools to make and repair parts.

Test/Operate equipment after repairs.

Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.

Observe and obey all company rules and regulations.

Collaborates with production manager or quality engineer regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required.

Makes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with production manager regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required.

Other duties as determined by supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:

One or more years of related manufacturing maintenance experience (hydraulics and electrical motor experience preferred).

Vocational or community college with related coursework or equivalent experience preferred.

Familiar in lockout/tagout authorized employee training and procedures.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Work safely in rigging and moving heavy objects.

Works well independently and with others.

Good communication skills.

Able to work safely in confined spaces or disagreeable working environments.

Ability to read and interpret prints and schematics and follow a logical path through a troubleshooting procedure.

Must possess basic machine shop skills

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods standing and walking.

Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, and service machinery.

Must be able to visually inspect machines.

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in tight and confined work areas around machinery. Metal flashing is prevalent, and ambient temperatures can be up to 110 degrees. Works in proximity to molten metals. Works under greasy and/or dirty conditions frequently. The noise level in the work environment is usually 85-94 DBA and hearing protection must be worn.
