Shipping & Receiving Assistant

Job Summary:

The Shipping/Receiving Assistant will ensure finished products are packaged and stored in a safe and quality-assured manner and are prepared to be shipped to meet consumer needs. The assistant will also assist with receiving product from outside processors.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Receives goods and verifies the quality and count of all items

- Verifies and records all items loaded for shipments

- Packages finished product in accordance to company standards to avoid damage

- Carefully and accurately maintains shipping records as directed

- Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions

- Accurately labels boxes for shipments as directed

- Loads/Unloads pallets and containers with forklift

- Performs other clerical duties as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received

- Basic understanding of warehouse procedures

- Good organizational skills and attention to detail

- Willing to learn and follow directions

Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- Previous forklift experience a plus.

Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.

- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
