Avery Dennison is seeking a Project Engineer to join the team at our Peachtree City, GA manufacturing plant In this position you will report to the Process & Technology Manager and support the Peachtree City site objectives associated with Safety, Service, Quality, Growth and Profitability by providing technical project engineering leadership for the business.

The primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:

  • Manage small to large capital projects related to industrial equipment
  • Developbid specifications, soliciting bids, working with corporate procurement to award contracts for industrial equipment
  • Design, evaluate and modify complex mechanical and electromechanical devices or systems to continuously improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform developmental and/or test work which requires a comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering theory and design.
  • Compile and evaluate design and test data to prepare technical specifications.
  • Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Develop project schedules, hire contractors, supervise installations, and maintain budget.
  • Mentor maintenance and operations colleagues.
  • Develop and implement technical training.
  • Represent the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects, and interact with external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Hold regular progress meetings, tracking commitments from others, and escalating any unresolved issues to management.
  • Participate in, lead and sponsor various task teams in problem solving events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree is required. Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial manufacturing environments is required. 5+ years preferred.
  • Expertise in liquid piping systems at either equipment or facility level preferred.
  • Project management experience with the ability to lead multiple projects varying in scope and complexity.
  • Capital equipment purchasing experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot equipment/process issues including mechanical, pneumatic, steam, and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCad for updating and creating plant layouts, P&ID drawings, and generating detailed fabrication or machine details. Equipment design experience is a plus.
  • Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement focus.

Additional Competencies Required:

  • Possess well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with CAD and a background in mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints, drawings and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge in mechanical drafting documentation principles.
  • Ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.
