    Summary

    Responsibilities

    The incumbent works directly with the South District Maintenance Crew in maintaining facilities, landscapes, campgrounds, and utilities.

    • The incumbent works as a leader in communicating instructions and giving direction for field operations.
    • Primary duties include mowing, groundskeeping, utility systems maintenance and replacement, lake operations and adjusting docks, water system maintenance and monitoring, construction projects, and facility repair and maintenance
    • Position involves exposure to unpleasant climate conditions, sustained physical effort including hand tool work, chainsaw work, heavy equipment operation, and minor electrical maintenance and repair.
    • Must be able to operate Bobcat with experience with multiple implements, four-wheel drive vehicle, and motorboat for lake operations.
    • Overnight travel is required to assist with park operations and project work at alternate locations within the park and the Powder River Group.
    • Must be able to carry weights that can exceed 50 lbs. and will wear National Park Service uniform.

    • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
    • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males
    • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
    • You will be required to submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test result prior to appointment. In addition, this position is subject to random testing for illegal drug use.
    • You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
    • You must possess and maintain a current Class A, Type II (or higher) Commercial Driver's License. With doubles and tanker endorsement.
    • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
    • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
    • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
    • You must possess and maintain or obtain and maintain a current Water Treatment Operators Certificate, and you must be able to secure and maintain a valid Wyoming Department of Health Services Level 1 Water Treatment Operators Certificate. Please indicate the level of certification you currently possess.
    • Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or
    • (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

    This announcement may be used to fill additional positions if identical vacancies occur within 90 days of the issue date of the referral certificate.Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires lifting or handling of objects or materials over 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions.

    Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees). Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks and biting insects. Performs water and wastewater operations and must possess and maintain the State's required certification or license.
