Future Generations University is excited to announce the opening of a new opportunity to join their team. The University is seeking a highly motivated Communications Associate to support global outreach and communications. The Communications Associate will support a multi-platform communications strategy to lift up the stories, actions, and social transformations of the Future Generations Global Network.

The Communications Associate needs to be comfortable working in a multi-cultural perspectives and approaches. They must have a very strong command of written and verbal English as well as a willingness to mentor others. This job will require a very flexible work schedule that may at times require attending meetings outside of normal business hours to accommodate international time zones.

This position is full-time. This position is partially remote with a requirement to be at Future Generations University’s office in Franklin WV at least six days per month. This residency requirement will be adjusted, as needed in accordance with University COVID-related policies. Permanent remote placement may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Interested candidates will be expected to perform the following functions:

  • Facilitate monthly communications with Future Generations Country Programs and partner organizations to identify local success stories and recent demonstrations of sustainable impact.
  • Maintain the organization’s blog, including coaching staff and partners on generating content as well as writing and editing blog post content.
  • Create organization emails including regular organization e-newsletter sent on a monthly basis plus special announcement emails as needed.
  • Generate strategies, creating content and maintaining general upkeep of organization social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Generate communications tools to supplement campaigns, including event registration through Facebook events, Google Forms and Survey Monkey surveys, Zoom meetings and webinars, and other tools as needed.
  • Maintain organization communications calendar, including generating content ideas, setting deadlines and coordinating with staff members to ensure deadlines are met
  • Maintain organization website in coordination with University web team.
  • Produce written stories, photographs, and videos demonstrating best practices and models of community development within the Global Network.
  • Serve as a member of the University’s broader communications team and support other projects or programs on an as needed basis.

Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with creating and maintaining organization or business communications such as social media, website, and marketing emails in a professional setting
  • Knowledge of Canva, Mailchimp, Wordpress, Eventbrite, Survey Monkey, and Google Drive a plus
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Experience with photography and videography captured in a professional setting
  • Strong copywriting and editing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to complete tasks and follow-through on
  • Experience in international aid or community development is not required, but is desired to help navigate the complex nature of communications content.
  • Ability to coordinate and motivate others to ensure meeting deadlines
  • Must be energetic, positive, imaginative, well-organized, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment and on a small team.
