Job Description

We are searching for an experienced Web Designer to support our primary customer, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Web Designer will be responsible for the design, usability and overall user experience of websites for a major CDC Division. The candidate must have a strong understanding of industry trends and best practices. The candidate must have experience creating unique, innovative, and user friendly designs that meet the customers needs and exceed their expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Design, implement, and maintain division and branch websites
  • Collaborate with program managers and health scientists to design and deliver a compelling web presence
  • Coordinate planning and implementation of web designs with the health communications team
  • Ensure websites are optimized for content consumption and ease of use
  • Leverage CDC’s standard website themes and components in site designs
  • Troubleshoot layout, browser cross-compatibility, and functional issues.
  • Display complex content in an easy to consume manner
  • Ability to own projects from ideation stages to completion.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 4-9 years' experience using front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3 and SCSS
  • Online portfolio or examples of past work that showcase your skills technically and aesthetically. Potential candidates must submit a portfolio (websites) and be able to explain their specific contribution to each project.
  • Experience developing responsive design websites and possess an understanding of mobile-first design concepts.
  • Health communications web design experience is a plus
  • Experience either hand coding responsive email templates, or customizing templates within the marketing automation system
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into pixel perfect web pages.
  • Proficient in Photoshop

Location:Candidates able to regularly work in the Atlanta office are preferred. The Atlanta office has not reopened and local candidates will not be required to come into the office immediately.
