What We're Looking For

Mechanical Assemblers are responsible for constructing parts and components to create a new or existing product according to the specifications of an external client or internal customer such as an R&D department or Product Development Group. Team members will perform diagnostic testing on the assembled product to ensure efficiency and conduct adjustments as needed. The Mechanical Assembler would also provide input into manual instructional guides for product use and troubleshooting procedures. Mechanical Assemblers must be knowledgeable and open to current technology and mechanical industry methods, as well as have the ability to analyze designs and provide feedback to engineering as a guide for creating high-quality products. Team Members will ensure a clean, safe working environment, be a team player, perform quality work, be available until work is done, and know and understand the policies, procedures and processes of EMIT.

Key responsibilities include:

Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.

Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.

Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.

Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.

Ensure manufacturing adherence to all quality regulations.

Work from mechanical layout drawings, point to point wire lists and wiring schematics.

Perform operational testing and end-point hardware debug and isolate issues down to the component level for non-conforming devices prior to shipment.

Possibly perform final QC review of products prior to shipment.

Use laser levels to establish surfaces are straight and level.

Examine work pieces for defects

Calibrate, test and log for all electronic products.

Possess good manual dexterity and the ability to work at high speeds.

Be capable of navigating production control tracking systems to find parts needed for assembly purposes.

Replenish materials needed in the production area in accordance with drawing bill of material requirements.

Exercise judgement at a high degree of manual dexterity to maintain close tolerance sealing as prescribed by blueprints and specifications.

Perform mechanical procedures, check controls operations and inspect aesthetics of products visually to meet quality specifications.

Perform fitting, alignment and adjustments to insure proper operation and free action of movable parts and flow of operating requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
  • Lifting: Occasionally raising objects weighing up to 70 lbs. from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles
  • Stooping: Frequently bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees
  • Crouching: Occasionally bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
  • Reaching: Frequently extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
  • Standing: Continuously remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Walking: Frequently moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force of 100 lbs. in order to thrust forward, downward or outward
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert with force of 100 lbs. in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion
  • Repetitive motions: Frequently making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers while demonstrating proper body mechanics
  • Visual acuity: Team Member is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating hand tools where the job is at or within arm’s reach; performing skilled trade tasks of a non-repetitive nature; or operating a forklift
