Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: The Resident Advocate provides information, referrals, and advocacy services to residents of the Cora Lamping Center.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Within the limits of agency policy and practice, this position is authorized to carry out the following in a professional and ethical manner:General DutiesHandles 24 hour crisis line on shift
Facilitate services for residents
Orients new residents to center procedures and rules.
Document all services and activities in resident files daily
Read and follow The Avenueand program policy manuals
Successfully complete all training requirements
Interact with residents on a daily basis a minimum of 3 hours per shift
Assist with meal preparation, child care, chores as needed
Complete safety checks of the shelter during shift
Maintain shelter cleanliness
Notify on-call worker in cases of emergency
Restock supplies as needed
Must be able to maintain professional boundaries.
Will obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.
Will attend New Service Provider Training.
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
Good verbal and written communication skills
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to communicate with people from diverse cultures.
Knowledge of services available within the community.
Remain current on issues re: DV and Sexual Assault.
Ability to respond supportively to persons in crisis/clients.
Ability to enter progress notes and statistics via computer.
High School Diploma or GED

The Resident Advocate positionis part-time, typically 3-4 shifts per week. There are two positions openon the second shift working3:00 pm-11:00 pm and one position open on third shift working 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.The schedule requires the ability to workevery other weekend. The shelter is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.Hourly wage is $11.00 plus premium pay during the pandemic.
