Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Resident Advocate provides information, referrals, and advocacy services to residents of the Cora Lamping Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Within the limits of agency policy and practice, this position is authorized to carry out the following in a professional and ethical manner:

General Duties

  • Handles 24 hour crisis line on shift

  • Facilitate services for residents

  • Orients new residents to center procedures and rules.

  • Document all services and activities in resident files daily

  • Read and follow The Avenueand program policy manuals

  • Successfully complete all training requirements

  • Interact with residents on a daily basis a minimum of 3 hours per shift

  • Assist with meal preparation, child care, chores as needed

  • Complete safety checks of the shelter during shift

  • Maintain shelter cleanliness

  • Notify on-call worker in cases of emergency

  • Restock supplies as needed

  • Must be able to maintain professional boundaries.

  • Will obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.

  • Will attend New Service Provider Training.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate with people from diverse cultures.

  • Knowledge of services available within the community.

  • Remain current on issues re: DV and Sexual Assault.

  • Ability to respond supportively to persons in crisis/clients.

  • Ability to enter progress notes and statistics via computer.

  • High School Diploma or GED

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

1.Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screens.

2.Negative TB Test results upon hire.

3.A valid state driver’s license or state issued ID

4.Must have reliable transportation

5.Current Automobile Liability Insurance

6.Undergo a Central Registry background check for absence of child/elder abuse registration

7.Undergo a LIEN check with no recent felony convictions and no abuse/neglect convictions.

The Resident Advocate positionis part-time, typically 3-4 shifts per week. There are two positions openon the second shift working3:00 pm-11:00 pm and one position open on third shift working 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.The schedule requires the ability to workevery other weekend. The shelter is open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Hourly wage is $11.00 plus premium pay during the pandemic.
