Job Description

Position Title: Cora Lamping Center Case Manager

Position Summary:

Provides both practical advocacy services and support to domestic violence or sexual assault survivors and their children.

Duties And Responsibilities:

1. Works with survivors to formulate and maintain relevant, meaningful case plans.

2. Develops and maintains case records that document services provided to survivors.

3. Provides concrete case management and current, effective in-house and external resources to survivors.

4. Advocates on behalf of survivors with community service providers.

5. Meets regularly with survivors to support survivor empowerment.

6. Conducting intakes and assessments with potential survivors.

7. Facilitates/co-facilitates support groups as assigned.

8. Provides face to face assessment to survivors to determine intervention, safety plan, housing goals, and objectives.

9. Interact with survivors and team members on a daily basis.

10. Assists in the daily operations of the program as needed.

11. Participates in staff meetings, case conferences, and other meetings as needed.

12. Builds service partnerships with community-based organizations, including participating on community task forces as assigned by Supervisor.

13. Project a good role model, keeping confidentialities in dealing with clients/staff.

14. Follows all VOCA grant goals, objectives and outcomes.

15. Prepare and deliver presentations on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, teen dating violence, healthy relationships and other relevant topics to various community venues as assigned by Supervisor.

16. Attend trainings and continuing education activities as assigned.

17. Completes VOCA timesheets weekly.

18. Assist with house meetings as needed.

19. Participate in crisis line backup rotation.

20. Participate in On-Call Rotation.

21. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

1. Have empathy and passion for working with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

2. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

3. Must possess good organizational skills.

4. Knowledge of services available within the community.

5. Ability to speak publicly and to present information on Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault to diverse people and organizations.

6. Ability to respond supportively to persons in crisis and assemble relevant facts.

7. Must have knowledge of and interest in women’s issues; particularly the dynamics of domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault.

8. Ability to complete multiple duties and tasks correctly and on time without being prompted.

9. Ability to use Information Technology, including the Internet, social media, and Microsoft Office Suite products.

10. Ability to learn and use program specific computer applications.

11. Ability to cooperatively work as a team, splitting duties and working together to provide the best services possible to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and their families.

12. Must obtain and maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

Minimum Education and Experience

1. Previous Domestic Shelter experience preferred.

2. Master’s Degree (preferred) or Bachelor Degree in human service or a related field or equivalent experience and training.

3. Good oral and written communication and computer skills are necessary.

4. Knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence, child abuse and neglect, and sexual abuse is required.

5. Bilingual (English/Spanish) beneficial

Special Conditions of Employment:

1. Valid Driver’s License, a working motor vehicle, and proof of current vehicle insurance.

2. Undergo and successfully pass a State of Michigan LIEN Check and Central Registry Clearance.

3. Pre-Employment Drug and Alcohol Screen.

4. Negative TB Test upon hire with follow-up TB tests as required by The Avenue policy.

5. Undergo a background check with no felony convictions and no abuse/neglect convictions.

Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays, as necessary.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position. Hourly wage is $15.10.
