Big Data Java Engineer | Contract to Hire | Columbus OH

We are looking for talented a Java engineer with Big Data experience who want to play a critical part in building out a truly big data platform processing billions of records per day. Work closely with our data science team, customer success teams and executive management to build critical systems using the latest technologies. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Design, development and support of new features and enhancements of existing components of the data platform with strong emphasis on Java best practices Help internal teams by building data solutions to enable data mining, analysis and visualization of malicious bot activity Play a critical role in all aspects of the full development lifecycle using a wide range of big data technologies and toolsREQUIREMENTS 5+ years of development and data experience 3+ years of solid hands-on Java backend experience including development and automated testing 1+ years Hadoop framework experience - HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Impala and Hue 2+ years PostgreSQL and SQL experience ETL, Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence experience Linux/Unix experience Strong analytical and problem solving skillsBONUS POINTS Ruby development experience Experience with additional Big Data tools/technologies - Flume, Kafka, Storm, Spark, Hbase, Avro, Parquet, Zookeeper, etc. Experience with AWS services - S3, Redshift, DynamoDB and RDS Experience and knowledge of science-related solutions, cheminformatics toolkits
