We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Mechanical Design & Analysis Engineer in a key role in our Product Development team. As the Sr Staff Mechanical Design and Analysis Engineer, you will work directly with mechanical and optical design engineers as well as the MEMS and electrical engineering teams. This position will provide mechanical hardware analysis, design and development for small laser beam scanning sensing and display products. Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical and thermal analysis of lidar products from concept stages through advanced design to ensure products will meet performance requirements under expected operating conditions.
  • Formulate, document, and assist with the execution of test plans to validate analysis.
  • Contribute knowledge gained through analysis to design, development, and qualification of production parts.
  • Generation and review of technical documentation (specifications, drawings, assembly instructions, test plans).
  • Reporting and presentation of analysis data, in progress and design reviews.
Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years relevant experience in structural and thermal analysis supporting product design and development in the consumer electronics, and/or automotive sensor industry.
  • Proficient using SolidWorks.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS Workbench or equivalent analysis tools for static and dynamic finite element analysis, including understanding of FEM modeling parameters such as boundary conditions, element types and optimization, adhesive/bonded connections, contact, verification methods, etc.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Flow Simulation, or other fluid or thermal modeling tools (ANSYS Workbench, ANSYS Classic, Thermal Desktop, etc.), for both static and transient thermal analysis.
  • Experience developing test plans, support execution, analyze, document and presenting results for verification of structural and thermal requirements.
  • Thorough understanding of the full product development cycle from concept to mass production.
  • Understanding of common manufacturing & design processes such as plastic injection molding, machining, fabrication of glass and plastic optics, flexible PCBA, and joining methods.
  • Solid communication and problem-solving skills, ability to understand complex systems and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with MEMS (scanning, accelerometers, etc).
  • Experience with laser based opto-mechanical systems.
