Summary: Directs activities of the Parish's automated information and communication services functions including operations, programming, design and analysis of work processing, data governance, telephone and radio systems and equipment. Director oversees the development, maintenance, and operation of computer-based information systems and the administration of the centralized computer facilities and communication networks. Director also has responsibilities for the Geographical Information Systems and Archive Management.

Competencies: Must be a strategic leader for the enterprise with the ability to be think both long-term and pragmatically technology needs of all Parish departments and outside agencies. This position requires constant self-education in technology developments in systems, resources, regulations, and security so as to apply them to current systems and plan for new ones. Must focus on the improvement of business results by acting as a change agent to promote new technologies as they are considered and implemented. Must be able to collaborate with outside agencies for effective and efficient use of all public technology assets and capabilities.

Work Environment: The incumbent works in a typical office environment with little or no exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Primary functions are limited to an office environment. Occasional duties may require travel or working in non-office environment.

Physical Demands: Sedentary work. Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are occasionally required and other sedentary criteria are met.

Required Education/Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field required and Master Degree preferred. Must have at least eight years of systems support experience at management level in a similar size organization (or larger). Applicant must possess a valid driver’s license.
