We have a 6 month contract to hire for a Network Engineer position. The location is Bend OR, San Diego, Ca. or remote for the right candidate.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Network troubleshooting, configuration changes, and device replacement including but not limited to; fiber ring and ethernet networks, firewalls, routers, switches, SFP’s, and cellular modems and traditional modems.
  • Support the SCADA network engineering team with equipment procurement, pre-configuration and lab testing including but not limited to, firewalls, routers, switches, and servers.
  • Support the creation of project closeout documentation including; network commissioning documents, network architecture diagrams, access control lists, firewall rules, as-built drawings, and training material.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and field technicians for on-site commissioning and installation support.
  • Maintain facility records and documentation, following all change control policies and procedures.
  • Log, track, and resolve ongoing support requests via our ticket and work order management system.
  • Adhere to a culture of NERC compliance and governance with respect to programming and commissioning standards, documentation, reporting, knowledge transfer and training.
  • Understand and follow proper escalation paths for complex issues and client facing resolutions.
  • Support system-handoff and facility integration with our Operations and Control Center.
  • Complete other assignments as assigned.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • Associates degree in Information Technology – Preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 1+ years of verifiable work experience in the Information Technology field as a field network engineer.
  • Experience working in Renewable Energy Industry working with industrial control system networking and common communication protocols (OPC, DNP3, Modbus, etc) a plus but not required.
  • Experience working with various equipment including but not limited to; Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Dell PowerEdge Servers, Cradlepoint cellular modems, SFP modules, others.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of WAN, LAN and VPN networks, including the relationship between network infrastructure and IP enabled devices.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Ethernet cabling design standards and applications. Knowledge of fiber optic design standards and application a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of TCP/IP switching and routing.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Authentication and Access Control.
  • Foundational understanding of VPN tunnel configuration, VPN administration, and connectivity support.
  • Knowledge of the OSI model and applying it to systematic troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Knowledge of Remote Control and Remote Access tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to support remote troubleshooting and close coordination with on-site technicians and other remote parties such as internet service providers, equipment vendors, or other parties.
