Core Build Engineer

Description SAIC has an opportunity for a Core Build Engineer to support the US Army Corps of Engineers Revolutionary IT Services (USACE RITS) program. NOTE: This is a 100% virtual / work from home / remote position located anywhere in the CONUS. The USACE RITS contract will provide modern and secure enterprise-wide IT support services to approximately 37,000 USACE customers located throughout the CONUS and OCONUS. Services will support the mission needs of USACE's Headquarters (HQs) located in Washington, D.C., nine Divisions and 43 Districts, to include over 1,500 field and area project offices and two data centers that are currently located in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and Hillsboro, Oregon. With advanced knowledge and appreciable latitude in decision-making, provides infrastructure engineering support services for USACE operating systems, workstations, and servers in accordance with USACE's cloud migration strategy. Provides management of the desktop/laptop and server operating systems including drivers and patches, application, and Configuration Management. Creates images that support USACE desktops/laptops and servers that may connect to the Government network using versions of Windows, UNIX, Linux, and AIX operating systems (OSs). Provides Tier 3 support for applicable server and end-user (client) OSs, "gold master" images, and common applications. Coordinates directly with, and supports the end user, server services, identity and access management/ Active Directory team, and IT Security teams on issues that cross these functional areas while maintaining USACE Enterprise Architecture standards to ensure a consistent and compatible configuration for all client and server infrastructure. In support of client engineering services, provides automated software deployment to USACE servers hosted in data centers, private- and public-cloud as well as workstations via a standardized enterprise management solution. Takes corrective actions to maintain service and quality levels. Develops and maintains Group Policy Objects to enforce consistency in GSA IT's deployed client hardware inventory. Supports testing of new hardware and software for possible deployment in the environment. Create multiple "Gold" images that will be used on physical, virtual, and cloud hardware. Provides effective management of all software loaded on USACE client hardware. Performs design and implementation of IT systems that require the integration of diverse and complex components. Activities include creating a problem statement, defining operational requirements including integration with other systems or components, researching and modeling the system architecture and configuration, investigation alternatives, cost analysis and estimation, and decision analysis. Ensures the logical ad systematic conversion of requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate requirements into hardware and software specification. Provides specific, detailed information for selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements, facility requirements (including floor layout, power cooling, network connectivity), data storage, backup, monitoring, operations systems, directory services, identity management, access management, and automation. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience; Masters and 0 years related experience. Additional four (4) years experience in lieu of degree CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Must have or be able to obtain a Secret clearance REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: IAT-II (e.g. CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP) Target salary range: $65,001 - $75,000.
