UX Designer // Studio Staff User Experience Designers should demonstrate a clear passion and enthusiasm for learning and pursuing their expertise, constantly challenging the definition of what makes good research, analysis, synthesis, information architecture and user experience. They should also demonstrate working knowledge in Visual Design and Front-End Development concepts and relationships. Work you'll do As a UX Designer in our practice you will:

  • Bring the user-centered design (UCD) process methods to design for various channels from concept through launch
  • Produce quality research artifacts including personas; journey maps; user and task flows; wireframes; sitemaps; and clickable prototypes; with oversight from design leadership
  • Execute the various methods for user research and design strategy including heuristic evaluations, competitive analysis, ethnographic research, contextual inquiry, usability testing, surveys and interviews
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, quality assurance engineersand clients to identify the best experience that meets user, business and technical needs
  • Work closely with visual designers to provide clear artifacts
  • Have strong interaction design skills and usability knowledge to make the complex clear and accessible, while understanding how it works behind the scenes and adjusting accordingly
  • Present work to clients and are able to accept and respond appropriately to feedback
  • Problem solve and offer ideas to address client issues
  • Maintain responsibility for completion and accuracy of work products
  • Develop your skills through training courses, mentoring, and daily interactions with team members, stakeholders and clients
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and at least2-5 years of design experience
  • Portfolio that shows examples of project or personal work, including but not limited to sketches, wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes
  • Experience creating designs, from concept through prototyping, with modern programs or technologies such as, but not limited to Axure, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, Marvel, and Principle
  • Experience in planning and facilitating user research activities and usability tests
  • Solid UX skills, with the ability to iterate through conceptual ideas and effectively communicate conceptualizations using sketches, storyboards, wireframes, user flows, interactive prototypes, data visualizations
  • Proven experience effectively prioritizing workload to meet deadlines
  • Well-rounded knowledge of design principles and techniques
  • Ability to organize and self-direct to get things done
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
  • Prior professional services or federal consulting experience
  • Ability to design and build clickable and/or animated prototypes using modern tools such as, but not limited to InVision, Marvel, FRAMER.js, Principle or After Effects
  • Ability to deliver coded prototypes using HTML, CSS, JS (front-end skills)
  • Experience with desktop, web and mobile applications and frameworks i.e. iOS, Android, Windows Phone, webOS, Bootstrap, etc.
  • Familiarity or experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and working in Agile environments
