Job Description

You will:

  • Own application delivery platforms (both Linux & windows based), including VM Host Stack, VM Guests (Glassfish servers, MS IIS servers) & Java based software agents), & Container Stack
  • Ensure platforms continue to meet the security, capacity, performance & reliability requirements of the organisation.
  • Key participant in our migration to container based delivery
  • Leverage IT automation tools to maintain platforms to our technical and security standards as they evolve over time
  • Continually improve the reliability and performance of our platforms including identifying opportunities for monitoring, or process improvement.
  • Maintain and expand our knowledge base
  • Resolve escalated support issues as the SME for the relevant platforms, including providing rostered on-call support for emergencies.
  • Manage& MentorDirect Reports by:- participating in agile processes, estimation and planning- monitoring, measuring & holding team accountable to process- identifying opportunities for process improvement.

Qualifications

Mandatory:Technical

  • Has had ownership/accountability for an Application Stack and technical/managerial leadership of teams supporting them.
  • Experience managing and maintaining Windows guests in a virtual environment.
  • Experience managing and maintaining Microsoft servers (5yrs+).
  • Must be equally competent in both Microsoft and Linux domains, with an understanding of AD complexity, and relevant AD experience to drive and complete current AD projects.
  • Strong scripting skills in Powershell.

Leadership

  • Can lead, coach, mentor, and performance manage a team of Application Specialists.
  • Demonstrated ability to holding people/teams accountable for delivery.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing and maintaining Linux servers (5yrs+)
  • Strong scripting skills with Bash & Python.
  • Experience with agile processes
  • Experience with Kubernetes (Highly desirable)
  • Experience using NGINX / HAProxy or similar (Highly desirable)
  • Experience using IT Automation tools such as WSUS/Chef/Puppet or similar.

  • Ability to work as part of a team or work autonomously.
