We are seeking to add an individual to our Glaze Making Team. The Glaze Technician will assist in the adjustment, development, and formulation of ceramic glazes and clay bodies, troubleshoot and fix current production glazes to match controls, and monitor quality standards of raw materials and finished goods. This full-time hands-on position will be based out of our beautiful Aromas, CA location, and you will report directly to the Ceramic Engineer. Local candidates are preferred within a 30 mile radius of Aromas.

The Role
Evaluate and adjust off color glazes
Prepare formula tests for firing and document results
Conduct quality tests on claybody, glazes, and incoming raw materials
Manage, track and complete duties related to production rework orders, add-on orders, and custom development
Assist in research and development for new glazes, claybody formulations, and product ideas
Maintain safe record keeping of all testing results
Provide assistance to glaze making team and production operations through glaze test approval, troubleshooting, answering questions, and other production needs to help with schedule completion
Adhere to company operation procedures and guidelines
Maintain a safe and organized work environment
Perform other duties related to job function as necessary

You're a Great Fit If You Have
Knowledge and experience of glaze application and glaze properties
Familiarity with different glaze raw materials
Knowledge of specific gravity and viscosity
Experience with color theory and color matching
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform basic calculations
Strong problem solving skills
Proficient with computer programs such as microsoft office, google suite
Ability to organize and prioritize workload under minimal supervision
Ability to respect and communicate across lines of cultural differences
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree
Experience in a manufacturing environment (specifically ceramics manufacturing)
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Proficient in Word and Excel
Experience
Any combination of training, education, and work experience equivalent to two years’ college-level education with specialized coursework in ceramics
Understanding of kilns, glazes, clay and ceramics
High School Diploma or equivalent
