We are looking for a high-energy individual to join our premier project in Montecito as an Estimator.
General Overview:
The Estimator has responsibility for estimating assigned projects that the company has undertaken on a negotiated or bid basis.
Description of Duties:
- Perform conceptual cost estimates early in project engagement
- Review construction project plans, requirements, drawings and specifications
- Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates through all stages of design
- Manage drawing distribution to prospective supplier/subcontractors to obtain bids
- Qualify supplier/subcontractor bid proposals
- Identify and input new or revised data into estimating database
- Reconcile supplier/subcontractor pricing information with historical data
- Understand the supplier/subcontractor market in the Santa Barbara area
- Promote goodwill between Quiring and its suppliers/subcontractors
- Build and maintain exceptional client relationships
Skills required:
- 3-5 years estimating, project engineering or project management experience on a variety of projects
- Ability to strategize, problem solve and plan
- Detail-oriented
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to collaborate and work with other departments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must possess valid California drivers license
Desired:
- Bachelors degree or higher in construction related discipline
Physical Abilities:
Candidates must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of the position without hazard to themselves or others including: sitting, standing, walking for extended periods of time; bending, kneeling and reaching to retrieve and file records; must possess dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment; must see to inspect financial or statistical records and observe computer monitor; must hear and speak at normal levels to communicate with others.
