SUMMARY
The Business Development Manager is responsible for building market position for TP&L by locating, developing, defining, negotiating and closing business relationships for all TP&L Business units:
- Construction: New or Repower
- In House Remanufacturing Services
- Gear box test stand
- O&M Services
- Supply Chain Services
- Control Center Services
- Asset Management
- Engineering Services
- Blade Services
- BOP Service
- Oil Change Services
- Inspection Services
- Solar
- Battery Storage
- Crane and Rigging
- Heavy Haul / Oversized
- Rail Logistics
- Storage and Maintenance Services
- Distribution Service
- Route Surveys
- Indoor Storage
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Managing relationships with Affiliated customers and marketing additional services to those customers / cross- utilization of TP&L’s broad service offerings / anticipating needs and goals
- Developing strategies to capture new business opportunities / contacting potential partners and discovering and exploring new ventures
- Researching industry news and events and analyzing market strategies
- Examining risks and potentials / competitive analysis
- Screens potential business deals by analyzing market strategies, deal requirements and financials
- Preparing sales presentations and proposals
- Recommends equity investments
- Developing and negotiating contracts in coordination with TP&L’s management team
- Enhancing TP&L’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value, participating in professional organizations and maintaining personal networks
- Willing to work flexible schedules as required with traveling
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS/COMPETENCIES
To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should be able to demonstrate and provide the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or offset with years of experience
- Wind industry experience (or) related industry experience preferred / Market knowledge
- Transportation / Logistics Industry Experience preferred
- Crane Industry Experience preferred
- Five (5) or more years in Business Development required
- Management of up to 5 or more direct reports
- Ability to travel nationally
- Entrepreneurial spirit / Professionalism / High Energy
- Sales planning / Selling to Customer Needs / Meeting Sales Goals
- Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships, as well as identifying opportunities
- Contract Negations and Closings
- Extensive knowledge in Microsoft Suite.
- Excellent organizational skills, communications skills, the ability to multi-task, and most importantly, the ability to work well in a team.
- Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Strong analytical thinker with the ability to resolve complex issues.
- Self-starter with a drive for continuous improvement of the business operations.
- Express willingness to step out of the box to assist other teams to meet and overcome challenges for the company.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is largely self-directed and requires understanding of company policy, procedures, and values. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements in all work environments.Specific requirements include:
- Occasionally lifting weights of fifty (50) pounds or less
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel 50% of the time and as needed
- Able to obtain a passport
