Apex Systems is looking for a Sr. Electrical Engineer in Atlanta! If you're interested, please send your resume directly to POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will be working with mechanical, hardware, software, controls, and manufacturing engineers to design and develop new products and accessories. The candidate will also be involved in design, develops, installation, modification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of hardware platform standards and quality control standards. The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for ensuring hardware is designed and developed to the highest standards for its entire lifecycle from concept through launch and maintenance.
  • Learns, documents, and applies hardware design standards and practices.
  • Designs, modifies, and reviews printed circuit boards, wiring diagrams, and hardware schematics.
  • Defines and establishes design constraints and specifications.
  • Develops hardware prototypes.
  • Performs analysis of mixed-signal hardware designs to confirm functional requirement compliance.
  • Develops electrical schematics, including the creation of new schematic symbols, as necessary.
  • Troubleshoots both analog and digital circuits
  • Verifies hardware designs to ensure compliance with design standards.
  • Performs failure analysis of printed circuit boards.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance (UL/ETL) of hardware designs.
  • Travels, both nationally and internationally, to vendors, subsidiaries, and factories as needed.
  • Tests embedded products to verify communication and power signals.
  • Develops test jigs.
  • Assists embedded systems integrators in setting up appropriate hardware for system testing.
  • Collaborate with management and factory representatives to define hardware feasibility, scope, impact, and needs.
  • Responsible for all testing of hardware, including test plans, actual testing, test reports, and continually assesses quality standards.
  • Handles technical support inquiries from factories and internal technical teams on an as needed basis.
  • Create and review technical documentation, literature, and collateral. Technical documentation includes, but is not limited to, design documentation, manuals, and engineering data.
  • Assists in identification, evaluation, and implementation of vendor supplied services ensuring quality standards are always met.
Education/Experience/Training:
  • Electrical and Electronic Circuit Design and Analysis
  • Competence in Analog and Digital Circuit Design and Analysis
  • Experience with E-CAD Software
  • Circuit Fabrication (Solder both "Through Hole" and "Surface Mount" Components)
  • High Quality Professional Level Documentation and Procedures
  • Capable of Remote Troubleshooting of fielded systems.
  • Experience with LabView
  • Experience with M-CAD Software a plus
  • Experience Designing parts/components with a 3D Printer a plus
